"It is not interesring to make ordinary cars because they are mere transportation. We consider designing cars again and again."
Although there is some restriction based on safety control or technological problems, they design trains with flexible ideas. It is because the subway runs under cities which are sensitive to a fashion, like Shibuya or Shinjuku, that they regard refined and novel form as important.
He also told us that the image of Tokyo as a tourist spot reflects car making. It goes without saying that commuters account for majority of passengers, however, he would like to impress on tourist, especially an incoming, seeing the sight of Tokyo by subway.
Colorful trains of Tokyo Metro are the result of pursuing the newest, best thing in order to love up to various need of metropolis. It is interesting that what does a futuristic car look like.

Subway cars with the most up-to-date facility

The subway of Tokyo, which is called 'Tokyo Metro', has 9 routes, 195.1km network and on average 6,300,000 passengers a day. As they say that 'The power of moving Tokyo', supporting the city's transportation is the first purpose.
As new subway cars are developed, whether they have a practical use is generally regarded the most important, but the cars of Tokyo Metro are all elaborately designed. The underground of Tokyo City has bloomed riotously with colorful trains.

Although subways are taken for granted these days, they appeared as an ultramodern transportation. The subway of Tokyo made a start in 1927 with 2.2 km railway. It was not merely the first subway of Japan but the first of the East and is said people made a long line to take a train. Since then the cars with the most up-to-date facility are developed when every new route was started. All trains have a novel design which is counterbalance to its hign efficiency.
Subway cars also require a lot of special equipment. The use of non-flammable material and an emergency exit are essiencial for fire control. Design or coloring which is not pressure people in undergraound is also important. Besides it subway cars have to pick up speed rapidly because Tokyo Metro, as an infrastructure of the city, has many stations in order that people can take a subway easier. It is because there is a tough standards that innovations were adopted one after another. It is interesting that evidence of this kind of technological challenges appears in the design of a train.
